On Our Honor
02:55
|
|||
On her tippiest toes she declares
Never complain about a pain in the side
Or the elders will stretch you out
Keep your clothes and sell your hide
On our honor we exchange Ohio buckeyes for your spare change
And every hole lets out a demon until one of you is gone
You may scream and writhe in pain
And promise never to speak again
But they’ll tear you limb from limb
Before they let the doctor in
On our honor we exchange our heavenly souls for your spare change
And every hole lets out a demon until one of you is gone.

Jamie
02:45
|
|||
Jamie gave herself over
Cast off her porcelain shawl
And so they rolled in the clover
That grew near the prison wall.
She’s a smart firecracker
He’s an impetuous fool
He drives his ramshackle Packard
To whisk her early from school.
He keeps a gun in his garter
Makes sure to cover their tracks
And when they pick up a stranger
They make the beast with three backs.
In the chill of the morning
Jamie tiptoes upstairs
And while her parents are snoring
She cuddles up with her bear.

Summer Flesh
04:09
|
|||
Excuse me please for staring at your shoulder
I didn’t catch the last thing that you said
We’re all a little drowsy from sunning by the water
A day like this could go right to my head
And I want to keep things simple
‘Cause I know the warm won’t last
But you were sitting pretty
And I was looking up your dress
There has never been a summer quite like this that I remember
The sun is a peach and we’re stewing in its juices, yeah
I got a little sunstruck ‘cause your toenails matched your lipgloss
Jamocha almond frost and your summer flesh
I didn’t mean to lose you at the party
I didn’t think I’d find you on the lawn
Coco’s playing “Starlight” on the organ in the attic
And you were out here missing all the fun
And I want to keep things simple
‘Cause I know the warm won’t last
But I was mixing cocktails
And you were drinking from my glass.

Bunny
02:58
|
|||
I am being charmed
I don't know if I like it
Fingers squeezing on my arm
Like it's fresh fruit in the market
GI Joe says seize the day
Mr. Rogers says stay away
Between them it's awful gray
Who wants to get laid?
Dancing in a loud room
Pulling out my pockets
Wanna see my trick?
I wonder if you'll get it.
Bunny!
Would you like to kiss a bunny on the nose?
My what big teeth you have
Will you blow my house down
Or shall we to your gingerbread cottage
I think you left your oven on
I'll regret this either way
Since we're together we might as well say
Let's make the most of this beautiful day
Who wants to get laid?

Martian Metals
02:39
|
|||
Man came from Martian Metals
Said he had a job for me
So he took me to the river
Pushed me in
And rubbed his belly
Plucked my eyebrows
And pasted tiny gold stars
Over my head
Then the man from Martian Metals
Made me a key out of lead.
“What’s this for?”
“It’s for a door—
When love’s gone
That’s where it goes.
Don’t you want to know?”
I climbed up the stairway
Made of autumn leaves
And notes goodbye
I put the key in the keyhole
Tried to turn it
I tried and tried
The key broke
And I fell backwards
Down the stairway
To the ground
As I lay there
Feeling stupid
I heard a tiny little…
I went back to Martian Metals
With the half-key
In my hand
I laid it down
On the front desk
They said “thank you! come again!”
I went out
Into the street
The street was just the same
I looked back at Martian Metals
They had changed their name.

Moons In June
04:32
|
|||
Patchouli just sat down beside me
She has a stain from every state
Acrylic sweaters, a chronic nosebleed
And a boy to navigate
Like stars in May and moons in June
The boy will be a woman soon
And all the waves will rip and curl
And make the boy a little girl
She offers me papaya spears
But they look to me more to be papaya smears
Seventeen widows tip toed around us
While the boy changes gear
Like stars in May and moons in June
The boy will be a woman soon
And all the waves will rip and curl
And make the boy a little girl
We took massages on the street
Ten bucks for head fifteen for feet
They chopped us up like Caesar Salad
And hummed an ancient Chinese ballad
Like stars in May and moons in June
The boy will be a woman soon
And all the waves will rip and curl
And make the boy a little girl
I saw a boy with sparkly eyes
I recognized him right away
He kissed me on my hands and cheeks
Then hopped on the subway

You can’t be the one I come home to
You’ve found a better place to hide
Only when I think I can forget you
You come to sit by my side
There in the cold night
Your dress is white
Don’t make me cry tonight
When all the stars shine like you love
So perfect still and bright
Don’t make me cry tonight
All the flowers closed the world’s asleep
And so are you sometimes
Memories never bury deep
They break the earth and climb
Into the mind of
Someone who still loves
Don’t make me cry tonight
When all the stars shine like you love
I know I’ll see your eyes
Don’t make me cry tonight

Sweethearts We
03:47
|
|||
You say everything right
Your smile is too bright for most people
They turn away intimidated
And chagrined you say “I’ll never”
But I tell you someone’s out there
For you
To write movies for you.
So don’t be sad
It breaks my heart
To see you turned around
There is too much up in you
For you to be so down
We’re not lovers anymore
But you’re the one for me
In a way I hope will never end
Superfriends sweethearts we.
Driving south to home
Where your stained glass mother’s waiting
She’s putting six toes on St. Steven
Papa plants stones in the garden
It’s where you can be yourself
Just not who you imagined
Down the highway
Through the trees
The sun sets and you see what no one sees
You see:
Purple peaches, steak-fried sanguine, periwinkle peppermint twists
Oxblood popcorn, berries in cream, palamino, ruby fruit mists
And it calls to you:
“Lady driver, if you see me, love me.”

I Fell For You
03:21
|
|||
You slept upon a sack of flour
Snorting dust and vodka sour
Animals gathered ‘round your feet
Hoping for something sweet to eat
And it’s true…
I fell for you
As you fell from the train
And lost your foot in the rain
Someone above chose you to mock and maim
I fell for you and you did too
I knew at once you were the one
You saw of course I had a gun
Your body joined the countryside
Your foot it stayed with me behind
And it’s true…
If ever I deny the day
You walk toward me with awkward sway
Never let me hope again
To kiss the toes of lesser men
And it’s true…

I Was An Accident
02:26
|
|||
I was an accident and I can never run from that
My older brother told me as he tied me to the track
And now a train is coming and I’m lying on my back
Looks like I’m an accident again
The clouds are meant to fill the sky
And eels to swim the sea
A plan for every living thing from moth to manatee
But the Lionel is scheduled to arrive ahead of me
Looks like I’m an accident again
When the woolly cattails come fully to bloom
Sending starry sorties to fly through the room
I catch one in my teeth and make a wish that won’t come true
Here it comes around the bend
Looks like I’m an accident again

Date with the Dead
03:27
|
|||
I could shove my hands
Inside your head
Work you like a puppet
We would carry on like kittens
And you wouldn’t even know it
Here I drew you up a sign
You can flash it during dinner
Let me know at your convenience
If you feel the least bit tender
I’ll call myself for you
To thank me for your trouble
And I think I lost a nail
In your cerebellum
But you go ahead and keep it
For good luck and a shiver
And I’ll thank myself for you
Over and over
I kick your knees
To make you walk
One foot then another
And I pat your head
And rub your tum
But never both together
Your beauty mark
Is dangling
Like a temperamental flower
And I left my spirit gum
Remover in the shower
I checked you for a toe tag
When I knew you weren’t looking
And I made up that game
To make sure your heart was beating
I peeled away your limbs
With not a little coaxing
With lemon juice and photo flow,
Liquid smoke and hoaxing.
Doo doo da doo doo.

You're Sexy
01:31
|
|||
You’re sexy, so sexy, but not sexy enough for me.
You walk like you’re liquid
And you kiss like a taffy machine,
Ah, that’s sexy, but not sexy enough for me.
You’re sexy, so sexy, but not sexy enough for me.
You got eyes of a lion tamer
And a body like a limousine
That’s sexy, but not sexy enough for me.
Love is like a Chinese vase,
Hold it close and it breaks.
Hold it loose, watch it fall
Then you’ve got no love at all.
You’re sexy, so sexy, but not sexy enough for me.
You’re cute as the girl next door
Dancing across the bedroom floor
That’s sexy, but not sexy enough for me
(He’s not saying you’re not sexy)
That’s sexy, but not sexy enough for me
(He’s got high expectations)
That’s sexy, but not sexy enough for me

Your Birthday
03:49
|
|||
Your birthday falls on a Friday this year
Raise the piñata sing a cantata
Twenty-fifth day of June
Emily Dickinson second edition
Our humble gift to you
Three magpies buzzing the banquet
Nagging the catering nuns
Loosening every man’s cummerbund
Snagging girl’s stockings as they run
On your birthday a gap in the heavens appears
Pestilence raining down, locusts in evening gowns
Tuxes gnawed straight through
Children are missing
Dogs and cats kissing
We’re having a barbeque.
Your birthday falls on a Friday this year
Raise the piñata sing a cantata
Twenty-five more to you
Emily Dickinson second edition
Blown open to 502:
(Poem 502 by Emily Dickinson)

Who's Your Daddy?
02:59
|
|||
I don’t mean to fat-ass your scene
Flip your wig or split your seams
But baby put these feathers in your hair
And then put on my underwear
Who’s your daddy now?
How quickly things move
When one is so pretty
And the other so witty
Now I don’t intend to condescend
Oh, you know what that means,
Don’t you baby
Just keeps your legs tightly crossed
And tie my shoes in double knots
Who’s your daddy now?
Every daddy wants a new baby sometime baby
Every daddy wants a new baby sometime baby
Every baby wants a new daddy sometime baby
Every baby wants a new daddy sometime baby

The Slushball
03:47
|
|||
You were never like your mother
Hiding behind the heatlamp
Making dirty pictures out of dominos
Counting the days 'til you were free
Oh my heart is breaking
Making up and making out
And playing daddy
All my friends keep telling me
You gotta get up and get out
But no one leaves
I was trying to feel you up
You were feeling me out
Trying me on
Now you've got three babies and a hamster
You're lost in Texas with a lobster
Oh the phone is ringing
It's all your lost opportunities
They wanna find out what you're doing
They ask why you don't write
They want money
But you're out of secret exits
And the psychics are closing in
And you'll never find the password
And the reruns are about to begin
But oh, it's just a shadow
It's a movie inside a dream
It's the rock that you turned over
And saw everything

Switchers
05:33
|
|||
She said we'd play a game now
And I'd be the wife
The husband came home from work
But the wife had to work, too
I couldn't just lie there
Not a wife like me
Yeah, I had to work too
So we could switch...
And then she took a scissors
And cut off all my fingers
And held me in the good old-fashioned way
I had a lot of questions
She answered them wisely
'Cause she knew just the way to make me stay
So we could switch...
How can you be so mean
You're the only girl I know
I do everything you want me to
But always make me go first
She said to try it on now
'Cause it probably wouldn't fit her
So I zipped it up one leg at a time
We tried to show her family
But they were eating dinner
So we screamed and ran back outside
So we could switch...
She grabbed hold of my antlers
And rode me like a reindeer
Kept kickin' at my sides to make me go
I took her to the North Pole
We left our clothes behind us
So we could find our way home
So we could switch...

Samba Triste
03:53
|
|||
Who am I to you
But distant unsettled memories
Dust devil in the sunrise
Samba Triste
Dance with your dirty barren feet
Eyes reflecting empty skies
Samba Triste
Like the plane would really
Would it really just land here
Park in your driveway
Pilot smiling and waving
Rose in hand and ring between his teeth
Who are you to me
Sundress in silhouette
Mirage in pirouette
Samba Triste
Dance with your dirty barren feet
All arms and flailing castanets
Samba Triste
Like the plane would really
Would it really just land here
Park in my driveway
Pilot smiling and waving
Rose in hand and ring between her teeth
Who am I to you
but distant unsettled memories
Dust devil in the sunrise
Samba Triste
Dance to a distant memory
Dance of a thousand mysteries
Dance with your dirty barren feet

Joan of Arc
05:07
|

Misty little winner
With a ponytail
Five blue ribbons
Flapping in the air
Sugar sweating sweetheart
Looking for a fight
One trick pony
A little on the shy side
I challenge you to a curling match
Pick your flatstones
Pick 'em fast
Find you a sweeper
Before it hits home
Burn pretty prophet
Burn to the bone
Care for some pepper
With your gravy legs
Toe-tied mama
With voices in the head
I believe these leg-warmers
Belong to me
Run along home now
Scissors skating beauty
Velcro sneakers
Don't mean a thing
And I've had enough
Of your jelly slippers, too
Moonboot mama
With Bon Jovi passes
Screw you pretty ponies
With your backstage asses

Long Time Now
05:25
|
|||
I know you're not shy anymore
I know you made a friend
And there's no reason to doubt it
No reason to even think about it
But it seems like a long time now
And I don't know the reasons
But I see the effect
I know you walk through the dark
I know there's green fields
I know it's all green fields
And there's no reason to doubt it
No reason to put a finger through it
I know it means too much
And soon this will pass
I know this too shall pass
And there's no reason to doubt it
No reason to put my finger through it
But it seems like a long time now...
